Local knowledge

What we see in Southeast Calgary laundry rooms

Just out of warranty

Dryers installed in the 2015–2020 SE building boom are reaching the age where thermal fuses, moisture sensors and control boards start to fail. Most of these are single-visit repairs.

Error codes on newer models

Many SE homes have Samsung and LG dryers with display codes such as HE, tE or d80. Check our error code lookup before you book — some codes simply mean the lint screen or vent needs cleaning.

Townhomes and stacked units

McKenzie Towne and Copperfield townhomes often have stacked washer-dryer pairs. We service the dryer without needing to move the whole stack when the access allows.

Dryer tips for Calgary SE homes

Calgary's oldest neighbourhoods

Inglewood and Ramsay are among the oldest neighbourhoods in Calgary, with houses that predate modern building codes. Basements can be low, laundry areas small, and dryer vents sometimes run through tight joist spaces or old window openings. In Ogden and Forest Lawn there are many postwar bungalows with basement laundry, and some have suites with a second dryer. When the machine sits in a small or awkward corner, tell us about steep steps, low ceilings and how much room there is to pull it out, so we can plan the SE visit and bring the right tools.

Lake communities and walk-outs

Lake Bonavista was Calgary's first lake community, built from the late 1960s, and Lake Chaparral, Auburn Bay and Mahogany followed decades later. In Lake Bonavista many homes have basement laundry and older ductwork, while in Auburn Bay and Mahogany upstairs laundry is the norm in two-storey homes. Houses backing onto the lakes and ponds often have walk-outs, with vents exiting low on the back wall where snow, leaves and lawn clippings collect. A lint-blocked outside cap is one of the most common reasons for slow drying that we find in these Southeast Calgary communities.

Townhomes and condos in the newer SE

McKenzie Towne, Copperfield, Cranston, Seton and Legacy have plenty of townhomes and low-rise condos, many with stacked laundry in a closet. Vents in these units often join shared ducts or exit at the roof, and the condo corporation may be responsible for cleaning them. Stacked dryers can usually be serviced in place, but the space in front of the closet matters, so clear a path before the technician arrives. Let us know if parking is visitor-only or permit-only, which is common on the newer streets of south Southeast Calgary.

FAQ

Dryer repair in Calgary SE — FAQ

Do you service Seton, Legacy and Walden?

Yes. All of the far south-east communities, including Seton, Legacy, Walden and Cranston, are covered.

My dryer is only five years old — should I repair it?

Almost always. A five-year-old dryer with a failed sensor, fuse or element is a good candidate for repair.

Can you repair a stacked dryer without taking the stack apart?

Often, yes. It depends on the model and how much room there is around it. We will tell you what is involved when you book.

I rent out a townhome in McKenzie Towne. Who handles vent cleaning, me or the condo board?

That depends on your condo bylaws. In many Southeast Calgary townhome complexes the board looks after shared or exterior vents, and the owner looks after the dryer and the duct behind it. We can repair the dryer and tell you where the airflow problem sits, so you can raise it with the right party.

Can you reach Inglewood and Ramsay homes from the back lane?

Yes. Many Inglewood and Ramsay homes have rear lanes and limited street parking out front. Tell us if we should come in from the lane, where the van can stop safely, and which door leads to the laundry. That saves time on the day and keeps the visit simple for you and your neighbours.
