Electric Dryer Repair Calgary
Electric dryers run on a 240-volt circuit and a large heating coil. When they stop heating, stop tumbling or throw an error code, we test the element, fuses, thermostats, sensors and control board and fix it on the spot — usually in one visit.

Signs you need this repair
- No heat, or only low heat
- Will not start at all
- Stops mid-cycle or shuts off early
- Clothes still damp on sensor-dry cycles
Safe checks before you call
- Turn the dryer's double breaker fully off and back on.
- Wipe the moisture sensor bars (inside the drum, near the lint screen) with rubbing alcohol.
- Clean the lint screen with warm soapy water if it holds water — softener film blocks airflow.
Unplug the dryer before you touch anything inside it. Leave panels, wiring and gas parts to a technician.
What usually causes it
Common causes we find
Heating element
The coil breaks or shorts with age. We test it for continuity and for a short to the housing, which can trip breakers.
Thermal fuse and high-limit
Safety parts that open when the dryer overheats. On many Whirlpool-built dryers a blown thermal fuse stops the whole dryer, not just the heat.
Moisture sensor bars
Sensor-dry cycles end when the bars feel the clothes are dry. Fabric-softener residue on the bars makes the dryer stop too early.
Control board and thermistor
Modern dryers read temperature through a thermistor and switch the heat with a relay on the board. These faults usually show as display codes.

FAQ
Electric Dryer Repair — FAQ
My dryer trips the breaker — is it safe to keep resetting it?
No. A dryer that trips its breaker may have a shorted element or wiring fault. Stop using it and have it checked.
Why do my clothes come out damp on auto-dry?
Most often dirty moisture sensor bars or a restricted vent. Clean both first. If it continues, the sensor or control may need testing.
Do you replace dryer cords?
Yes. We can replace a damaged 3- or 4-prong cord, matching it to your outlet.
